Modern Farmhouse

All the elements we love about classic farmhouses is modernized in this recent project in Mountain View, close to Palo Alto.

The Modern Farmhouse style has increased in popularity in the last few years because it harkens back to simpler times, the integrity of beautiful and natural materials, and a more approachable aesthetic. For this remodel, we utilized a limited neutral color palette, sticking mostly to grays, beiges, blacks, and warm woods.

The kitchen, dining room and living areas maximize the home’s open floor plan. The warm wood windows create a modern and inviting backdrop in each of the rooms. The walnut kitchen cabinets pair wonderfully with white glazed brick tile backsplash, minimal hardware, and marble slab countertops. We continued this style into the entry and nook, using similar open concept shelving and wall treatments like shiplap and paneling. The bathrooms gave us an opportunity to mix and match surfaces and tile, all the while staying true to the modern farmhouse aesthetic. The bedrooms we designed are warm and inviting, layering different patterns and textures of bedding, rugs, and artwork that complimented the warm sunlight streaming in. The kids spaces utilize brighter punches of color and a touch of whimsy.
